Tasks:

• Assist in performing routine maintenance work and repair to ship's engine, machinery and auxiliary equipment.
• Clean engine parts and keep engine room clean.
• Lubricate moving parts of engine, machinery and auxiliary equipment.
• Monitor engine, machinery and equipment indicators.
• Operate and maintain off-loading liquid pumps and valves.
• Operate, maintain and repair deck equipment.
• Stand watch and steer ship or self-propelled vessel under the direction of an officer.

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses :

Transport Canada engine room rating Certification. Marine Emergency Duties Certificate.

Equipment and machinery experience:

Lifeboats.

Transportation/travel information:

Travel expenses paid by employer.
