Overview

Bloom World Academy is seeking creative and expert practitioners for the role of Assistant Principal - DP/CP Coordinator to join in Academic Year 2026/2027.

The DP/CP Coordinator plays a central role in leading the strategic development, implementation, and quality assurance of the IB Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme. The role ensures high standards across teaching, learning, assessment, and student outcomes in Grades 11 and 12. The Coordinator oversees compliance with IB requirements, drives academic rigour, supports staff professional growth, and ensures students are fully prepared for examination success and post-16 pathways. As an Assistant Vice Principal, the postholder contributes to whole-school leadership, school improvement, and the sustained development of the Senior School.

The Assistant Principal – DP/CP Coordinator holds a pivotal and highly holistic leadership role in the continued growth and development of Bloom World Academy. They lead both the academic and pastoral provision for students in Grades 11 and 12, ensuring that every learner is known, supported and challenged to achieve their full potential.

The postholder oversees the strategic development and quality assurance of the IB Diploma and Career-related Programmes, promoting academic rigour, outstanding teaching and learning, student wellbeing, IB compliance and excellent outcomes. As the school expands in student numbers, facilities and curriculum provision, they will help shape the future direction of the Senior School, develop staff practice and prepare students for examinations, university, employment and life beyond school.

As a key member of the leadership team, the postholder will work closely with colleagues across the Extended Leadership Team and contribute significantly to whole-school improvement and the sustained development of BWA.

Job scope

To oversee and ensure the successful implementation and running of the DP/CP programme, as per IB regulations.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities

Lead the strategic oversight and day-to-day management of the IB Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme.

Ensure full compliance with IB standards and practices, including programme documentation, policies, and review cycles.

Oversee curriculum planning, subject selection processes, and timetable alignment for DP and CP students.

Monitor student progress, predicted grades, and examination performance, implementing timely intervention strategies where required.

Coordinate internal and external assessment procedures, ensuring accuracy, standardisation, and adherence to IB deadlines.

Support and quality assure the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, Reflective Project, and Core requirements across both programmes.

Lead staff training and professional development to ensure high-quality teaching and secure understanding of IB assessment criteria.

Work closely with Lead Practitioners, Grade Leaders, Careers Counsellor and Nexus staff to maintain consistency in curriculum delivery, assessment practices, academic expectations and highly effective pastoral support.

Oversee university guidance processes in collaboration with relevant leaders, ensuring students are well prepared for higher education pathways.

Ensure effective communication with parents and students regarding programme expectations, assessment timelines, and academic progress.

Analyse examination data and cohort trends to inform strategic planning and continuous improvement.

Lead preparations for IB verification, evaluation visits, and annual reporting requirements.

Contribute to whole-school leadership through participation in Senior Leadership Team meetings, strategic planning, and school improvement initiatives.

Promote a culture of academic ambition, integrity, and resilience across the Senior School.

Curriculum and documentation

Ensure the DP/CP framework and curriculum is clearly communicated with all stakeholders.

Undertake regular review and development of the curriculum scope and sequence documents and related policies.

Assist teams or individuals in developing AOL unit plans, course outlines and subject overviews so effective planning of high-quality learning and teaching can result.

Ensure appropriate conditions for the conduct of monitoring and moderation of assessments and mock exams are met by appropriate deadlines.

Contribute to the organisation and procedures for programme evaluations.

Work in conjunction with the Senior Leadership in overseeing and reviewing the report writing and checking process.

Help recruit and ease the transition of students and parents from the MYP into DP/CP programmes with the support of the BTEC Vocational Leader.

Effectively guide students onto the appropriate DP/CP course which reflect students' interests, abilities, and career goals.

Organise the induction of students joining school mid-year or mid-programme and help those leaving the school mid-year or mid-programme with required documentation.

Prepare and submit any documentation required for authorization and evaluation.

Keep complete records of IB publications, forms and reports on file and distribute them to staff as necessary.

Maintain accurate school information via IBIS, myIB and via the school OneDrive or LMS/SMS systems (i.e. ISAMS, Managebacc, etc.).

Ensure that records of year level and specialist curriculum meetings are kept.

Participate in the formation of the school’s strategic development plan.

Encourage and support wider DP/CP experiences such as field trips and extra-curricular opportunities.

Effectively support and track students' progression routes onto university or tertiary education and support students both academically and pastorally so their holistic development flourishes.

Support key curriculum documentation during inspection or evaluation visits.

Professional development

Ensure that BWA staff members are made aware of professional development opportunities and lead DP/CP workshops and inset training where required.

Coordinate participation at DP/CP workshops and professional development activities.

Keep a record of workshop attendance and school visits to ensure equity of opportunity and identify ongoing needs.

Liaise with the IT department to ensure that teachers are provided with support and professional development for successful implementation of IT facilities and related SIS/MIS platforms which support the DP/CP (i.e. Managebacc, iSAMS, etc.).

Provide on campus professional development for staff and the wider community.

Support teachers to become trained as IB moderators and workshop leaders.

Resource management

Establish an inventory of resources to facilitate efficient management.

Make recommendations for the purchase of suitable resources to support the implementation of the DP/CP programme.

Communication

Liaise with the PYP, MYP, Vocational Co-ordinator, Careers Counsellor, DP/CP Librarian and Senior Leadership to foster systems of communication and collaboration.

Liaise regularly with relevant VPs, LPs, Grade Leaders and MYP/DP/CP subject teachers.

Maintain systems of communication for the entire professional staff in implementing and developing the programme in the school so that all staff are aware of current DP/CP practice and documentation.

Support staff in ensuring that the concepts of international awareness and international mindedness permeate all subjects and that the student learning is inquiry based.

Inform all staff of the sample requirements and the procedures and deadlines for monitoring and moderation of assessment.

Analyse moderation reports and communicate the information to those concerned.

Support the teachers responsible for the personal project and the exhibition in the final year of the programme as well as ensuring appropriate communication to parents and students.

Contribute to the presentation and promotion of the DP/CP within and outside the school through school and IB documentation and meetings.

Participate in interviews with parents and students in matters of academic progress.

Ensure that parents receive portfolios of achievement, records of achievement and DP/CP certificates.

Maintain communication between the school and the IB, ensuring that all regulations set by the IB concerning the programme and the procedures are adhered to properly, and that all deadlines are met.

Circulate all relevant information received from the IBO and communicate all results to students and wider stakeholders, celebrating successes and areas for improvement.

Feedback to the IB comments, suggestions and information on the performance of the DP/CP programme.

Provide outreach to the wider DP/CP community through various online community chat discussion forums, and school visits.

Publish IB specific information and articles pertaining to the programme in the school newsletter and other social media.

Leadership and reporting

Line-managed by the Deputy Principal for Grades 11 and 12.

Accountable to students, families, colleagues, the Extended Leadership Team, Bloom Education and the International Baccalaureate.

Responsible for the effective academic leadership, development and delivery of the DP and CP.

Undertakes any other reasonable responsibilities that support the smooth and effective running of the Senior School and wider school if necessary.

Works collaboratively with all stakeholders to ensure transparent communication, IB compliance, high-quality provision and excellent student outcomes.

Position requirements

A successful track record and thorough knowledge of the IB Diploma Programme and Career-related Programme standards, practices and assessment requirements.

Significant academic and pastoral leadership experience within a post-16 or senior school setting.

Proven experience of leading or coordinating the DP and/or CP, including examinations, assessment processes and IB compliance.

A strong understanding of university admissions, careers guidance and varied post-16 pathways.

Demonstrated ability to promote student wellbeing, safeguarding, inclusion and personalised support alongside academic achievement.

Experience of using performance data to monitor progress, identify priorities and improve student outcomes.

The ability to lead, develop and inspire staff through effective collaboration, coaching and professional learning.

Proven capacity to lead change and develop programmes within a growing and evolving school.

Excellent organisational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills.

The ability to build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, universities, employers and external partners.

A commitment to the IB philosophy, academic integrity, high expectations and continuous school improvement.

A relevant degree and recognised teaching qualification; IB leadership or coordinator training is highly desirable.
