Job Summary
Support veterinary specialists by managing patient care, assisting in procedures, and coordinating daily operations to ensure high-quality treatment and client communication in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Responsibilities
- Restrain and handle patients safely during consultations and treatments to ensure effective care delivery
- Communicate clearly with clients and referring veterinarians to coordinate patient care and follow-up
- Assist veterinarians during treatments, procedures, and surgeries to support clinical outcomes
- Perform placement of IV catheters, blood draws, and collect urine and fecal samples for laboratory analysis
- Prepare surgical theatres and consultation rooms to maintain sterile and efficient environments
- Monitor and provide pre-operative, peri-operative, and post-operative care to support patient recovery
- Assist with anaesthesia monitoring and recovery to ensure patient safety during procedures
- Perform autoclaving and clean workstations and cages to uphold hygiene standards
- Oversee and train patient care assistants and junior veterinary nurses to maintain team competency
- Coordinate and manage daily veterinary practice operations to ensure smooth workflow
- Apply knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to maintain compliance and safety
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree or Diploma in veterinary technology or nursing, or relevant qualifications
- Certification in CPR
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in the veterinary industry
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of leadership experience
