Upholstery Sewer
Work tasks: Automotive and Furniture Upholstery Sewer (working with genuine leather, faux leather, heavy upholstery fabrics, and Alcantara, and operating heavy-duty industrial machinery). Job Responsibilities  Sewing automotive interior components: Sewing car seat covers, headrests, armrests, door panels, steering wheel covers, headliners, and gear shift/handbrake gaiters.  Creating patterns and templates: Dismantling old covers, assessing wear, and deriving precise new patterns based on them.  Decorative stitching: Executing design stitching (e.g., diamond quilting, double stitching with contrasting thread) and decorative piping.  Adhering to safety requirements: Creating special breakaway safety seams for airbag-equipped seats in accordance with manufacturer standards.  Processing specialized materials: Selecting leather, culling defective pieces, and precision edge thinning (skiving) prior to assembly.  Sewing furniture and cushion covers: Sewing covers for sofas, armchairs, chair seats, headboards, office furniture, and decorative cushions.  Pattern matching and cutting: Precisely positioning and aligning fabric patterns (stripes, checks, large decorative motifs) across different components.  Preparation of edge bindings and piping: Sewing in edge treatments designed to reinforce and decorate furniture edges.  Installation of hardware and fasteners: Sewing on zippers, Velcro strips, buttons, and fastening strips that allow covers to be removed or stretched tight over the frame.  Collaboration with the upholsterer: Checking the fit of covers on the furniture frame and making adjustments if necessary before final stapling.  Material usage planning: Optimizing the layout of fabrics and leathers during cutting to minimize material waste.
