Business Growth Manager

This isn’t a Growth Manager role where you’ll simply inherit a plan and follow it. We want you to help shape what comes next. You’ll lead our growth agenda, spotting opportunities, challenging the status quo and turning ambitious ideas into sustainable services that make a real difference to our customers and communities. One day you could be working from home developing the financial model for a new service; the next, you might be in the office with our Executive Leadership Team, visiting one of our sites or meeting potential partners. Wherever you’re working, you’ll be at the heart of our future growth. From acquisitions and new markets to funding, tenders, partnerships and new services, you’ll build a pipeline of opportunities worth up to £10m, combining strong commercial thinking with our social purpose. We’re looking for someone who can create something from nothing. You’ll spot potential, build relationships, develop compelling business cases and bring people together to turn great ideas into commercially viable opportunities. As a Growth Manager, a typical day might include:

• Working with the Executive Leadership Team to deliver our growth strategy and charitable purpose, generating up to £10m of growth across the group through acquisition, market diversification and complementary services.
• Building a strong, sustainable pipeline of income across all delivery sites from contracts, public sector tenders, grants, trusts and foundations, corporate and community funding.
• Developing new services and products that meet the changing needs of our customers, communities, commissioners and policy makers, using insight from teams across the group.
• Turning stakeholder relationships into strategic partnerships that deliver collaborative services, greater impact and new growth opportunities.
• Leading on the financial viability of new programmes, including business plans, financial modelling, cash flow forecasting and full cost recovery, and seeking approval from Committees and Group Board where required.
• Overseeing the bidding team alongside the Bid Manager to make sure submissions are high quality, evidence-based and costed for sustainable delivery, and writing or supporting bids yourself when needed.
• Managing team performance against KPIs and budgets, with regular reporting to senior leaders.
• Making the most of our existing assets and finding opportunities for cross-subsidy and commercial return.

Some of the experience/skills we need to consider you:

• Full understanding of the funding and grant submission process and a proven track record of securing income through this route
• Experience of securing income, in particular multiyear funding to ensure full cost recovery across all areas and a sustainable approach to delivery
• Experience of generating diversified income through new markets and developing and establishing new models
• Experience of acquisitions and mergers to support business growth
• A proven track record of turning stakeholder relationships into productive and impactful partnerships, working collaboratively to deliver a bigger impact in a funded and sustainable way
• Experience of managing budgets in the region of £1m with a full understanding of the budget planning and management process
• An ability to bring together complex business plans, profit and loss forecasts and financial profiles
• Development of cashflow forecasting, business plans and budget preparation
• Experience of presenting to Board, Executive leadership teams
