The Pipeline Commercialization Strategy (PCS) organization leads the development of the strategic direction of AbbVie’s pipeline, disease area strategies and external innovation strategies. The Head of Gastro, PCS is responsible for driving and enhancing how PCS delivers against its remit of increasing the value of the pipeline portfolio and preparing the late-stage pipeline for launch and affiliate transitions. The Head of Gastro is responsible for end-to-end stewardship of Gastro pipeline commercialization strategy, including driving strategy development for Gastro pipeline assets from early-stage (Phase 1–3) and leading the transition to affiliates for launch. This role reports to the Vice President, PCS, Immunology and is based in Lake County, IL. Key Responsibilities: Lead the development of the Immunology long-term strategic Gastro plan in close partnership with Immunology PCS leadership, ensure optimized and consistent approaches across PCS, and shape an enterprise-wide vision for long-term Gastro pipeline growth and market leadership. Drive a strong commercial lens to shaping of strategic direction for the Gastro pipeline portfolio — including identifying unmet needs, evaluating competitive landscape dynamics, defining target patient segments, forecasting scenario value, and proactively defining risks and opportunities for the Gastro portfolio strategy from Phase 1–3. Provide strategic commercial perspectives for external business development (BD) opportunities to expand the Gastro pipeline. Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, including Gastro external experts and leverage expertise/insights to strengthen the value proposition of Gastro pipeline assets. Leads cross-functional engagement, partnering with R&D, Regulatory, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Business Development, Finance, and Affiliates (US and IMCO) to shape and align Gastro pipeline strategy. Ensure end-to-end stewardship of Gastro pipeline commercialization across all development phases (Phase 1–3), guaranteeing seamless transition of strategy from development to launch and affiliate handoff.

Bachelor’s degree required Pharma, biotech experience required Track record of strategic leadership 10+ years of experience with successful track record in pharma marketing and/or medical affairs required Robust understanding of the drug development process, lifecycle management and commercialization of therapeutics Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and proactively, including possessing a high degree of planning, coordination, project management skills, with demonstrated ability to problem solve Strong strategic skills and ability to drive innovative approaches to optimize business impact Strong financial acumen with a good understanding of P&L drivers and the ability to develop appropriate SG&A investment and top-line sales forecasts that generate long-term value Clarity in communication – expert in producing crisp and compelling presentations for governance discussions that are executive ready Impeccable integrity, work ethic and commitment Preferred: Advanced degree Prior experience in Affiliate marketing leadership role Experience in Immunology Experience in Gastro
