Machine Operator (Rebar Steel) Tuas South
Responsible for operating automated steel processing and welding machinery safely and efficiently to meet production, quality, and delivery requirements. The Machine Operator will also perform basic machine troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and support production activities as required.
Job Responsibilities
- Operate automated welding, cutting, bending, and other steel processing machinery.
- Set up machines according to production drawings, specifications, and work orders.
- Monitor machine operation and ensure products meet required quality standards.
- Perform basic troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, sensor, pneumatic, and automation-related issues.
- Carry out daily machine inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and basic preventive maintenance.
- Report machine breakdowns, defects, and abnormal conditions promptly.
- Assist maintenance personnel during machine servicing and breakdown repairs.
- Follow production schedules and achieve assigned production targets.
- Maintain accurate production and machine operation records.
- Follow workplace safety requirements, ISO procedures, 5S, and company SOPs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised production work area.
- Perform other production-related duties assigned by the Production Manager.
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of PLC, sensors, pneumatic systems, electrical controls, and mechanical systems.
- Able to understand basic mechanical or electrical drawings.
- Familiar with machine setup, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of welding and automated manufacturing processes.
- Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Willing to support machine breakdowns and production requirements when necessary.
- Able to work shifts and overtime when required.
- Safety-conscious and familiar with ISO, 5S, and manufacturing safety practices.
Requirements - Education
- Minimum SPM / NITEC / Higher NITEC or equivalent.
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or related field is an advantage.
Requirements - Experience
- Preferably 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing, automation machinery, welding machinery, or industrial production.
- Experience operating automated welding or steel processing machinery is preferred.
- Experience in basic machine troubleshooting and maintenance is an advantage.
