*Legal Assistant*

VanderLeek Law is looking to hire a Legal Assistant to join our growing team. Our practice areas are Wills, Estates, Trusts, and Guardianship & Trusteeship, with a focus on providing services to families with children with long-term disabilities. As we are a small team, we work collaboratively to establish and maintain long-lasting client relationships.

We are looking for a Legal Assistant who can work both independently and collaboratively, has great customer service skills, and has a sharp eye for detail. The ideal candidate for this role would have 2-3 years experience working in a law firm (with Legal Assistant Diploma preferred), and would have strong communication, time management, and problem solving skills.

*Responsibilities include: *

? Detailed Drafting - various legal documents and correspondence for clients and third parties

? File Management - monitoring files, determination of next steps, maintenance of internal databases, determination of file priorities, managing a diary system, preparing accounts

? Scheduling - client meetings, court applications, other various appointments, preparation for client appointments

? Exceptional Client Care - respond to emails, calls, inquiries in a timely manner, keeping the client informed throughout the process

? Filing Documents - with the Court and the Land Titles Office

? Supporting the Team - provide support to other team members when required and assistance in other administrative duties relating to the practice

*Key Requirements:*

? Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, client relationship management software, and legal accounting software

? Reliable, adaptable, professional, organized

? Strong skills in customer service, time management, and problem solving

? Effective communication skills and demonstrated ability to handle confidential info

? Familiarity with Mac operating systems is an asset

? Commissioner for Oaths in Alberta is an asset

*The Role:*

? Office hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday

? Primarily in office work with some possibility of flexibility

? Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
