Securiguard is seeking a highly capable and experienced Emergency Management & Fire Safety Specialist to support healthcare security operations within the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) portfolio.This specialized field-based role is responsible for supporting fire and life safety readiness, emergency preparedness, incident response coordination, compliance monitoring, and fire prevention initiatives across assigned healthcare facilities. Working closely with healthcare leadership, facilities teams, clinical staff, and security personnel, the Emergency Management & Fire Safety Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, physicians, and visitors.Duties & Responsibilities:Serve as a lead resource for fire and life safety operations across assigned VCH healthcare sitesSupport and coordinate emergency responses during Code Red events, fire alarms, evacuations, and shelter-in-place proceduresMonitor and assist with fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, fire panels, and other life safety systemsLead and coordinate fire drills, emergency preparedness exercises, and evacuation training activitiesConduct fire safety inspections and ensure documentation and compliance with applicable fire safety regulations and standardsSupport the development, implementation, and maintenance of fire safety plans and emergency response proceduresIdentify fire and life safety risks and recommend mitigation strategies in collaboration with site leadership and facilities teamsProvide fire safety education, orientation, and ongoing training to healthcare security professionals and site personnelParticipate in disaster preparedness, mass-casualty, and healthcare emergency management exercisesCollaborate with clinical teams, integrated protection services, facilities, and external emergency response agencies when requiredSupport post-incident debriefs and after-action reviews to identify opportunities for continuous improvementMaintain accurate records related to drills, inspections, incidents, training, and compliance requirementsSupport healthcare accreditation and fire safety compliance initiatives across the portfolioAct as a liaison between healthcare leadership, security teams, and responding agencies during emergency eventsAssist in maintaining monthly fire extinguisher inspections and coordinating annual inspections and testing programsPromote a culture of safety, professionalism, communication, and relational security within healthcare environmentsRequirements:Minimum 3 years of experience in fire safety, emergency management, healthcare security, or life safety operationsValid First Aid/CPR CertificationValid Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicleDemonstrated experience with fire alarm panels, fire suppression systems, sprinkler systems, and life safety systemsStrong understanding of BC Fire Code, emergency response procedures, evacuation protocols, and fire prevention practicesExperience leading or supporting fire drills, Code Red responses, and emergency preparedness exercisesKnowledge of healthcare emergency management principles and healthcare facility operations is considered a strong assetExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teamsStrong leadership, decision-making, and incident management abilities during emergency situationsStrong documentation, reporting, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environmentPost-secondary education in Fire Protection, Emergency Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field is an assetNFPA certifications, Fire Prevention Officer certification, or related fire safety credentials are considered an assetWhat's In It for YouFun Events Year-Round: From big celebrations to small get-togethers, we love finding reasons to celebrate.Collaborative Culture: Join a supportive, values-driven team where everyone
