Our client is a well-established and highly professional accountancy practice dedicated to delivering exceptional service to their clients. As a result of their growth we have been engaged to recruit an additional part-time Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator to join our close-knit team in Bury St Edmunds.

The Role:

This is a part time Bookkeeper & Payroll Administrator post, up to 20 hrs per week, where you'll play a key role in supporting both the firms' clients and internal team. Your responsibilities will include:

Payroll:

  • Processing weekly and monthly payrolls
  • Ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance
  • Managing pension auto-enrolment obligations

Bookkeeping

  • Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records
  • Working with Sage 50, Xero, QuickBooks and AutoEntry
  • Reviewing and preparing VAT returns
  • Supporting the preparation of financial statements

Administration

  • Providing general administrative support
  • Scanning, filing and document management
  • Assisting with reception and ad hoc office duties

What experience is required:

We're looking for someone who is organised, detail-focused and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. It is essential to have the following experience , and to be able to work on a Tuesday due to a key client payroll needs:

  • Minimum 1 year bookkeeping experience
  • Minimum 1 year accounting experience
  • Experience processing payroll
  • Knowledge of accounting and payroll software
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach

Other knowledge that this is highly desired but not essential:

  • Experience within an accountancy practice
  • Knowledge of Sage 50, Xero, QuickBooks and AutoEntry
  • Understanding of pension auto-enrolment requirements
