A Purchasing Assistant is responsible for supporting the purchasing process by ensuring orders are placed in a timely manner within established authority and approval guidelines. This role monitors orders and follows up with vendors to help ensure materials and supplies are delivered on schedule. Success in this position requires strong communication skills, the ability to build positive working relationships across departments, and a professional representation of Michels Corporation.

Responsibilities:
Conduct price and vendor research to obtain quotes
Ensure timely execution of purchase orders and contract signatures from suppliers
Create recommendations on the best supplier of materials and services
Support activities of personnel engaged in buying and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, parts and supplies
Maintain records in software system: create and edit purchase orders and manage vendor quote list
Identify new supplier opportunities and complete initial research of supplier
Qualifications:
Associate degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Computer proficiency
Proficiency with using eProcurement or eSourcing tools (desired)
Relevant industry experience (desired)
