About the company

WHO WE ARE Macaloney's Distillery & Brewery is a craft single malt whisky distillery in Victoria, BC. We build on Scottish roots with Canadian innovation, and our Triple Take was named World's Best Pot Still at the World Whiskies Awards. New ownership took over in September 2025 and we've been rebuilding from the ground up: a new Distillery Bar, new tours, a members club and a growing lineup. Small team. Big ambitions.

Your tasks

Run the room where people fall in love with our whisky. Lead the bar, the team and the events that bring Victoria to our door.

THE ROLE The Distillery Bar is where guests taste Macaloney's for the first time, and where many of them decide to come back, join the club or buy a cask. You'll lead it. You'll run the bar program, build and schedule the team, host tastings and tours, and plan the events that keep the room full. You report directly to our CEO.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Run front of house bar operations and hold the service standard on every shift
• Create cocktails and keep the beverage program fresh
• Host tasting first guest experiences and guided distillery tours
• Build the bar staff schedule and lead, coach and support the team
• Plan and run the events calendar to bring people through the door
• Spot private cask leads, host VIP guests and help turn them into cask owners

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING

• Leadership. You've managed a bar or hospitality team, and people like working for you
• Organized and reliable. You run a tight schedule and follow through
• Warm, genuine service. Guests feel looked after the moment they walk in
• Real curiosity about whisky and cocktails. We'll teach you our lineup
• Weekend availability
• Serving It Right certification (BC)
• 19+ and legally able to work in Canada

What we offer

We offer an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) because we believe the people who build the brand should own a piece of it.

COMPENSATION

• CA$25 per hour
• Share of the Distillery Bar tip pool
• Monthly revenue sharing bonus
• 15% commission on private cask sales
• ESOP participation
• Staff discount and real whisky education
