Programme Officer International Relocation

We coordinate a global network of organisations that support human rights defenders at risk through temporary relocation and security training, so that they can continue their work safely, effectively and sustainably, over the longer term. We are currently expanding and strengthening our international temporary relocation network. In doing so, we build on best practices from the Netherlands and other contexts to support organizations in setting up and developing temporary relocation initiatives elsewhere.

We are looking for a candidate with the following competencies: You are enthusiastic, creative, a good facilitator, and have experience working closely and effectively with others in a multi-cultural team: you are an organizer and a team player;

You can work in a structured way, love to organize, have experience with project cycle management, and see what work needs to be done and consequently take initiative;

You have experience with security and risk assessment for human rights defenders, having an understanding of operational and digital security is a plus;

You have experience with the (temporary) relocation of human rights defenders at risk;

You have experience working with government at different levels: municipalities, ministries of foreign affairs and the European Union, preferably in the Netherlands;

You have a network of human rights organisations working on the protection of human rights defenders at risk in the Global South, particularly in Asia;

You have a strong understanding of the protection of human rights defenders and the related challenges and needs. Experience with cross-regional relocation efforts is an asset;

You possess and display a high level of sensitivity and knowledge with regard to cultural and other differences, e.g. sexual orientation and gender identity/expression, religion and belief.
