Chief Impact Officer

Accountabilities: The Chief Impact Officer will provide strategic leadership for global programs, ensuring alignment between organizational priorities, available resources, and measurable impact. The role combines executive oversight, partnership development, program innovation, and operational excellence.

Collaborate with executive leadership to define and deliver organizational strategy, performance objectives, and impact reporting.

Lead the design, execution, and evaluation of large-scale, multi-year programs focused on conservation, governance, and technology-enabled solutions.

Oversee global program teams, promoting a culture of inclusion, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Establish program objectives, key results, performance frameworks, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes.

Partner with technology, science, innovation, communications, and operations teams to maximize mission impact.

Identify emerging trends, risks, opportunities, and strategic priorities within international ocean governance.

Support fundraising initiatives by contributing to grant proposals, donor engagement strategies, and impact narratives.

Manage program budgets, financial forecasting, reporting, and compliance with donor requirements.

Build and maintain strategic partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, scientific organizations, and other international stakeholders.

Represent the organization at conferences, policy discussions, workshops, and senior-level meetings as a global spokesperson.

Communicate complex scientific, technological, and policy concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

Travel internationally as needed to support partnerships, collaboration, and mission delivery.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring extensive leadership experience in international conservation, governance, and large-scale program management, with the ability to translate ambitious strategies into measurable results.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in a relevant field strongly preferred.

Significant senior-level experience designing, managing, and scaling international programs, particularly within marine conservation or environmental governance.

Deep understanding of global ocean policy, conservation challenges, and the political dynamics influencing marine resource management.

Proven experience leading globally distributed, multicultural teams and developing high-performing, inclusive environments.

Strong strategic planning, project management, and execution skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives.

Exceptional diplomacy, negotiation, advocacy, and relationship-building abilities across government, nonprofit, scientific, and philanthropic communities.

Experience developing partnerships and influencing decision-makers at international and senior organizational levels.

Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective solutions.

Demonstrated success supporting fundraising efforts and managing relationships with public, private, and institutional donors.

Hands-on experience managing budgets and aligning financial resources with strategic priorities.

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to serve as a compelling global representative.

Native or highly proficient English skills required; fluency in Spanish and/or French preferred.

United States: approximately $230,000–$250,000 USD annually.

United Kingdom: approximately £150,000–£170,000 GBP annually.

Spain/EU: approximately €130,000–€160,000 EUR annually.
