This position is located at the Zuni-Ramah Service Unit under the Division of Clinical Services in Zuni, New Mexico. The position supports the delivery of nutritionally appropriate meals to patients receiving regular and therapeutic diets and assists in maintaining sanitary food service operations. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

Major duties

Prepares and assembles patient meal trays for regular and modified diets according to nurses' orders, diet cards, menus, and established dietary procedures. Portions food items into standard serving sizes using appropriate utensils and containers. Sets up and serves cold food items, including salads, desserts, beverages, and condiments. Reviews diet cards and menus to ensure patients receive prescribed meals. Verifies tray contents during final assembly and exercises responsibility for the accuracy of food items placed on trays. Prepares special feedings, nourishments, delayed meals, and meals for patients temporarily absent from patient care units. Prepares a variety of cold food items including salads, desserts, and beverages according to standardized recipes and established dietary requirements. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of food service equipment, utensils, tray carts, serving carts, coffee brewers, and work areas. Strips trays, removes food debris, loads and unloads dishwashing equipment, changes linens, and disposes of garbage according to established procedures. Washes, sanitizes, and stores dishes, cookware, utensils, and food service equipment. Performs heavy-duty cleaning tasks throughout the department, including cleaning floors, walls, ceilings, refrigerators, freezers, storage areas, and food preparation equipment.

Qualifications

WAGE GRADE STATEMENT Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the Federal Wage System (FWS) Job Grading Standards.
