QA Tester (Manual)
Job Title: QA Tester (Manual)
Location: Remote, Part-Time/Full-time
Company: Icons Of Real Estate
ICONS of Real Estate produces podcasts and content for real-estate professionals in the US. Our team runs on an internal web application we call the Hub: it manages our clients' podcast episodes, guest bookings, articles, assets, and billing. We ship new features every week, and we need someone whose job is to make sure they work before our team and our clients see them.
What you will do:
Test new features and bug fixes on our staging environment, following a written test guide and also exploring beyond it. Write clear bug reports: exact steps, what you expected, what happened, screenshot or short screen recording, browser and account used. One issue per report. Re-test fixes and confirm them, or reopen with what still fails. Run a regression checklist on the most important flows (login, booking a guest, the episode workflow, article review, emails) before each release. Keep the test guides up to date as features change, and suggest test cases we missed. Join a short daily written check-in and one weekly call with our product designer (Hani), who defines the expected behaviour.
What we are looking for:
1 to 3 years testing web applications (manual QA). An internship or a strong self-taught record with examples counts. You write precise English. Most of your work is written: steps, expectations, results. You are systematic: you can follow a 12-step guide exactly, notice when step 7 behaves differently from the guide, and say so without being asked. You are curious and a little suspicious: you try the wrong input, the double click, the back button, the second browser tab. Comfortable with browser developer tools (at least: finding a failed request in the Network tab and copying a console error). Reliable internet, a computer that runs Chrome well, and 3 to 4 hours of overlap with US Eastern mornings (roughly 14:00 to 18:00 in Lagos or Tehran).
Nice to have (not required):
Experience with a bug tracker (Jira, GitHub Issues, Linear, Trello). Basic SQL, or reading API responses (JSON). Any exposure to automated browser tests (Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Laravel Dusk). We have a small automated suite and would like the tester to grow into maintaining it. Having used WordPress, Google Docs and Google Calendar as a power user. Our workflows touch all three.
Pay and terms:
USD 500 to 1,000 per month depending on experience and hours (part-time to full-time), paid monthly. Independent contractor. Fully remote. We are hiring in Nigeria and Iran for this role. First month is a paid trial with clear goals (see below). After that, ongoing, with a review every six months.
How to apply: Send to goodness@iconsofrealestate.com : (1) a short note on your testing experience, 10 lines maximum; (2) one bug report you have written, real or from the exercise below; (3) your available hours in your local time; (4) your expected monthly pay.
Exercise (15 minutes): open any public website you use (a bank, an airline, a shop). Find one thing that is wrong, confusing, or inconsistent. Write it up as a bug report: title, steps to reproduce, expected result, actual result, screenshot, how serious it is and why. We read this before anything else.
