Ready to shape the future of space and defense technology? EIDEL is an engineering company specializing in electronics, software, and system design for space and defense applications. Our core expertise lies in remote sensing, remote control systems, and encryption. The markets we operate in are experiencing long‑term growth, and with a rapidly expanding project portfolio, EIDEL is strengthening its development teams. We are now looking for an Embedded Software Developer to join us and help deliver robust, high‑quality solutions for demanding and mission‑critical systems. About the Role As a Embedded Software Developer at EIDEL, you will work in multidisciplinary project teams and take responsibility for both software architecture and hands‑on development. You will be involved early in projects and follow solutions through the entire lifecycle — from concept and design to integration and customer acceptance. You will work closely with system engineers, hardware engineers, FPGA developers, and project managers, contributing to technically sound decisions across disciplines. Typical responsibilities include: Define, maintain, and evolve software architecture for complex embedded and system‑level solutions

Translate system and software requirements into robust, maintainable designs

Implement software in compliance with architecture, coding standards, and safety/security requirements

Participate in technical decision‑making across software, FPGA, hardware, and systems engineering

Support integration, verification, and validation activities

Act as a technical sparring partner for project managers and fellow engineers

Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, tools, and coding standards

Required Background and Experience: We are looking for someone who combines strong technical depth with a system‑level mindset. You should have: BSc or MSc in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience

5+ years of professional experience in software development

Proven experience with software architecture and technical design

Strong proficiency in C (other languages are a plus)

Experience with embedded systems, real‑time systems, or low‑level software

Good understanding of structured development processes (requirements‑based development, design, verification)

Ability to work independently and take technical responsibility

Proficiency in Norwegian and English

Experience with one or more of the following is an advantage: RTOS, embedded Linux, or bare‑metal systems

Safety‑ or security‑critical software

Long‑lifecycle or regulated projects (space, defence, industrial systems)

Systems engineering or cross‑disciplinary development

Personal Qualities We value engineers who: Enjoy solving complex technical problems

Communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non‑engineers

Work in a structured, analytical, and quality‑focused way

Take initiative while appreciating well‑engineered, sustainable solutions

Thrive in close collaboration with colleagues across disciplines
