Local CDL Trainer
Overview
Love driving trucks but ready to step off the long-haul road? This role allows you to pass along your industry knowledge to the next generation of commercial drivers while working locally. You will teach aspiring drivers the practical skills they need to earn their CDL and start rewarding careers. There are no overnights, no logbook hassles, and no chasing loads—just stable schedule options, local work, and the personal satisfaction of helping students succeed.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, you will guide students from day one through their official CDL skills test. You will spend your days providing practical instruction on our range and on local roadways, ensuring every student develops safe driving habits and confidence behind the wheel.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Range & Field Instruction: Coach students on pre-trip and in-cab inspections, basic vehicle control, and essential parking maneuvers (including straight back, offset, and parallel parking).
Road Training: Accompany students on public roads, teaching safe steering, braking, gear shifting, defensive driving techniques, and emergency maneuvers across city, highway, residential, and rural environments.
Student Progress & Coaching: Offer constructive feedback, maintain accurate student training logs, and adapt your teaching style to meet individual student needs.
Equipment & Range Safety: Move vehicles within the training yard, perform routine pre-use vehicle inspections, top off fluids, and keep equipment safe and test-ready.
Classroom & Simulator Support: Prepare simulator program materials, evaluate assignments, and help reinforce state traffic laws, signage rules, and basic maintenance concepts.
Long-Term Impact
Over time, you will directly contribute to high student pass rates and help maintain our school's reputation for safety and quality instruction. You will serve as a trusted mentor, shaping disciplined drivers who prioritize highway safety and professionalism.
