Supervisory Health System Specialist

About the Position: This position is located within the Director of Surgery Department of Preoperative Nursing, Sterile Processing at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Major duties

• Develops business and marketing strategies and plans.
• Ensures the timely review, analysis, and adjustment of marketing strategies, plans, and programs to meet the organization’s needs and the changing market conditions.
• Recommends and coordinates facility improvements including construction, renovation, and purchase of equipment. Initiates requests for furniture and other quality of life improvements in workspaces.
• Assists in the coordination and provision of educational opportunities in the assigned department for a wide array of students.
• Represents the division/department at professional meetings and conferences as requested.
• The incumbent conducts recruiting and hiring- identifies recruitment sources, assesses and interviews candidates, and recommends/selects hiring, promotions.
• The incumbent is responsible for the full range of supervision of general schedule, contract and enlisted personnel, including assigning work, providing technical oversight, writing Performance Appraisal Rating for all GS employees.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience which includes knowledge in ensuring equipment is properly maintained to pass safety inspections, knowledge in identifying departmental improvements opportunities, and knowledge in accomplishing budget financial objectives when marketing service and/or programs to customers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
