Firmware Engineer (Power Electronics)
About Xnergy
Xnergy builds high-power wireless charging for industrial robots and autonomous machines like AGVs and AMRs. No plugs, no connectors, no one walking a robot to a charger. We’re headquartered in Singapore, backed by venture and sovereign investors, with teams in Suzhou and Mexico.
About the role
Firmware at Xnergy sits right on top of the power stage. Your code decides how kilowatts move safely across an air gap, many times a day, on customer sites around the world.
We’re hiring an engineer with at least 3 years in embedded firmware who has worked hands-on with power converters. We’re open on level. If you’ve owned firmware architecture and led others, we’ll bring you in as a Senior. If you’re earlier in that path, there’s room to grow into it here. You’ll work closely with hardware, software and Solutions engineers, take products from prototype to production, and stay with them when issues come back from the field.
What you’ll do
- Design and implement real-time digital control for high-power conversion stages (APFC, DC/DC, DC/AC) on DSP/MCU
- Build and maintain firmware for bootloaders and field updates, protection and fault handling, and wired and wireless communication stacks
- Plan and run testing across unit, bench, integration, system and production test
- Root-cause hardware and firmware issues in development and field escalations
- Build Python test tools and scripts for the lab and production line
- Contribute to MCU selection, schematic reviews and the product roadmap
- At Senior level, you’ll also own the overall firmware architecture, lead the testing strategy, mentor other engineers and run code and design reviews.
What you’ll need
- Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Power Electronics or Computer Engineering, or a related field
- 3+ years in embedded firmware, with hands-on experience in digital control of power converters
- Strong C on real-time DSP/MCU platforms (TI, ST, Infineon, NXP, Microchip): interrupt-driven control loops, ADC/PWM timing and fixed-point maths
- A solid grasp of control theory, including loop design, compensators and stability, and topologies such as PFC, LLC/resonant and full-bridge
- Protocol implementation across CAN/CAN-FD, Modbus, RS-485, UART, SPI and I2C, plus at least one wireless stack (BLE, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, LoRa, Matter, NFC)
- Hands-on lab skills with power hardware: scopes, differential and current probes, and safe debug practice
- Good engineering habits: Git, code review, documentation and release management
What will make you stand out
- 5+ years in firmware, with 3 or more on converters above 1kW
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field
- Experience with resonant converters or inductive power transfer
- Model-based design (MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, SPICE)
- An RTOS such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr
- Working knowledge of safety, EMC and regulatory standards for power and radio products, such as RED, RoHS, EU CSA, IEC 62368-1, EN 55011, EN 61000, ETSI EN 301 489, EN 300 328, EN 303 417, EN 62311, IEC 61851 and ISO 15118
Why Xnergy
You’ll be on a small team where your firmware ships into real products, not a slide deck. You’ll see your work go from bench to customer site, with room to travel and grow as the company scales.
How to apply
Send your resume to jane@xnergytech.com with “Firmware Engineer” in the subject line. Tell us briefly about a power converter you’ve written firmware for.
