AMMUNITION HANDLER LEADER

Major duties
- You will receive, store, issue, block and brace military ammunition and explosives for vehicle transportation to shipment destination.
- You will serve as a working leader of approximately 10 Active Duty Marines and insure that needed plans, schematics, manuals, material and tools are available and that needed stock is obtained from supply locations.
- You will answer workers questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives (e.g., technical orders).
- You will provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays and overall work operations and problems (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees).
- You will inspect completed work of subordinates to insure repairs completed are in accordance with technical specifications.
- You will receive, inspect, sort, and classify ammunition and explosive items turned-in by military units, such as small arms, artillery, mortar, rockets, grenades, antipersonnel mines, pyrotechnics, chemical amunitions high explosives.
- You will maintain strict lot number control and keep magazine data cards current by accurate posting of issues and receipts.
- You will ensure proper COSIS (Care of Stock in Storage) and perform organizational and direct support maintenance of ammunition to recondition ammunition found with incidental or minor defects.
- You will inspect ammunition for surface defects, rust, corrosion, paint, cracks, burns, crimping, moisture, deterioration, compatibility, and nonstandard storage conditions.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: Ability to inspect ammunition and explosives in order to determine serviceability and detect hazardous/non-standard conditions that are not in compliance with standard requirements; knowledge of information contained on receiving vouchers sufficient to segregate shipments into appropriate categories; ability to operate motor vehicles safely.
