laser technician

Education:

College/CEGEP. Mechanical engineering/mechanical technology/technician. Surveying technology/surveying.

Work setting:

Office. Machinery installation.

Tasks:

• Install equipment.
• Read blueprints or other instructions to determine work requirements.
• Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments.
• Assist in inspection of mechanical installations and construction projects.
• Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
• Determine precise locations using electronic distance measuring equipment.
• Conduct field surveys and operate survey instruments and computer equipment to measure distance, angles, elevations and contours.

Instrument experience:

Precision measuring instrument.

Equipment and machinery experience:

Laser levelling/aligning.

Equipment, eystems and controls experience:

Laser.

Manufacture.
