We are seeking an outstanding Junior School Teacher of Physical Education for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who combines strong subject expertise with warmth, creativity and a genuine love of working with children.

They will create lessons, fixtures and co-curricular activities full of energy, teamwork and physical adventure, while providing the kindest and most individual pastoral care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging, challenging and inclusive PE lessons across games, gymnastics, dance, athletics and swimming
  • Foster a classroom and sporting culture built on curiosity, confidence, kindness and respect
  • Deliver an enhanced English National Curriculum for PE
  • Use assessment thoughtfully to support progress and inform planning
  • Differentiate effectively to support individual learners, including those with additional physical or medical needs
  • Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, resilience and critical thinking about performance
  • Create stimulating, safe and well-organised learning environments, indoor and outdoor
  • Ensure high expectations of behaviour, effort and sporting conduct
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the creation of outstanding PE learning experiences across the Junior School
  • Organise and lead inter-school competitions, matches and sporting events
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues to plan learning, share expertise and reflect on practice

  • Support the development of school culture, systems and traditions as part of the founding team, including establishing the Junior School's sporting life from the outset

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Relevant undergraduate degree in Physical Education, Sports Science or a related discipline
  • Minimum of two years' successful teaching experience in PE at Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
  • Experience teaching within the English National Curriculum or a British-style international curriculum
  • Strong understanding of child development and effective primary PE pedagogy
  • Current first aid certification, or a willingness to obtain one
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish positive partnerships with students, colleagues and parents
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child wellbeing
  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with young children and physical activity
  • High levels of professionalism, organisation and adaptability

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience within a high-performing international school
  • Coaching qualifications in one or more sports (e.g. swimming, athletics, gymnastics, football, netball)
  • Experience organising fixtures, sports days and inter-school competitions
  • Experience teaching multilingual learners or students with EAL needs
  • Experience integrating technology, such as performance analysis, into PE
  • Experience contributing to co-curricular programmes
  • NPQ qualifications, Master's degree or additional professional qualifications
  • Experience supporting diverse learning needs, including SEND provision and adapting PE for varied physical abilities
