Secondary Alternative Pathway Inclusion Teacher

Job Description

Safa British School is seeking an experienced, passionate and highly motivated secondary alternative pathways inclusion teacher / SENCO to join our growing inclusion team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced inclusion professional who is passionate about creating meaningful, personalised learning experiences for students of determination and supporting them to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of inclusive practice and experience working with students with a range of additional needs, including those who may require an alternative pathway to access their education.

Key Responsibilities

Have significant experience working with students of determination and students with additional learning needs.

Have experience developing and delivering personalised and differentiated learning programmes.

Be confident adapting curriculum planning, lessons and activities to meet individual student needs and abilities.

Have experience supporting students with behaviour management, including implementing positive behaviour strategies and individual support plans.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of pastoral care and the importance of developing positive, trusting relationships with students.

Be passionate about identifying and creating opportunities to enrich students’ experiences beyond the classroom, including life skills, community integration, work experience and preparation for adulthood.

Be creative, adaptive and flexible in responding to the changing needs of students and the provision.

Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, families, external professionals and the wider inclusion team.

Be committed to promoting student independence, confidence and self-advocacy.

Have strong organisational skills and the ability to monitor, evaluate and adapt provision according to student progress and need.

Demonstrate high expectations for all students, recognising and celebrating individual strengths and achievements.

Qualifications and Experience

A recognised teaching qualification is essential.

An inclusion/SEN qualification is highly desirable.

A SENCO qualification is desirable but not essential.

Proven experience working within an inclusion/SEN setting is essential.

Experience of working with students requiring alternative pathways would be highly advantageous.

Experience within a British curriculum setting is desirable.
