Job Description

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage project costing, contract administration, procurement, and commercial management. The successful candidate will work closely with the project team to support the effective delivery of construction projects within budget, schedule, and required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Coordination & Commercial Management
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and project team on contract review, budget tracking, cost control, and commercial matters.
  • Review and manage variations, progress claims, and final accounts.
  • Ensure commercial matters are followed up and resolved in a timely manner.
  1. Contract Management
  • Review and evaluate contract terms to ensure compliance and manage contractual risks.
  • Support negotiations with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and purchasing teams.
  • Provide recommendations on contractual and commercial matters.
  1. Cost Control & Budget Management
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets and expenditures.
  • Monitor procurement costs, Work-in-Progress (WIP), collections, retentions, and reconciliations.
  • Track project costs against approved budgets and highlight potential cost issues.
  1. Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with internal teams and project stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
  • Support the team in ensuring commercial processes comply with company policies and contractual requirements.
  1. Stakeholder Management
  • Liaise with clients, main contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Support cost negotiations and provide recommendations on materials and commercial matters.
  • Maintain proper project records, including Site Instructions and Architect's Instructions.
  1. Claims, Variations & Final Accounts
  • Prepare, submit, and follow up on progress and variation claims.
  • Coordinate the preparation and settlement of final accounts.
  • Monitor and follow up on the release of retention sums in accordance with contract terms.
  1. Risk & Issue Management
  • Identify and monitor commercial and contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work with the project team to resolve issues relating to delays, variations, cost evaluations, and contractual matters.
  1. Value Engineering & Business Support
  • Support value engineering initiatives to improve project value and cost efficiency.
  • Provide commercial and costing support for tenders and potential business opportunities.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline .
  • Relevant experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, or the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, costing, variations, claims, and final accounts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant project costing or quantity surveying software.
  • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a project team.
