Personal Advisor - Barnsley | 12-Week Contract

We're currently recruiting for a full-time Personal Advisor to support Children in Care and Care Leavers aged 16-25 across Barnsley.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes. Direct Personal Advisor experience isn't essential - we're keen to hear from candidates who have worked with children and young people in settings such as residential care, youth work, family support, education, support work or social care.

A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.

The Role

You'll be responsible for providing advice, guidance and practical support to young people as they transition into adulthood, helping them build confidence, independence and life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acting as a named Personal Advisor for Children in Care and Care Leavers
  • Building positive relationships with young people and promoting engagement, independence and wellbeing
  • Delivering one-to-one and group sessions focused on:
  • Life skills
  • Education, training and employment
  • Personal development
  • Independent living
  • Supporting young people with housing and homelessness prevention
  • Assisting with the preparation, implementation and review of Pathway Plans
  • Undertaking statutory visits and maintaining accurate case records
  • Supporting Social Workers with assessments, reviews and interventions
  • Writing reports for reviews, safeguarding processes, pathway planning and court proceedings
  • Working closely with families, carers, professionals and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
  • Advocating for young people and ensuring their views and wishes are represented in decision-making
  • Supporting care leavers into education, training and employment opportunities
  • Participating in safeguarding, leaving care and multi-agency meetings, acting as Lead Professional where appropriate
  • Responding to referrals and arranging support packages to meet identified needs
