Location: West Yorkshire Salary: £30k - £38k p/annum DOE Hours: 08:00 - 16:30 Monday to Thursday and 08:00 - 16:00 on Friday, flexitime opportunities e.g. 07:00 - 15:30 Industry: Construction products

We are seeking a Development Chemist to join our client's Technical Department. This role is crucial for designing, developing, and characterising new product formulations and overseeing their initial production. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high standards in quality control and supporting continuous improvement projects within the organisation.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Design and develop new product formulations and variants.
  • Oversee the initial production of new products, determining quality control testing and specifications.
  • Support development and continuous improvement projects within the technical department.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation of experimental data, procedures, and conclusions.
  • Interpret test results and recommend next steps for project advancement.
  • Collaborate with team members to improve test methodologies, procedures, and manufacturing practices.
  • Troubleshoot product and process inefficiencies and provide technical support for projects transitioning to market.
  • Conduct research to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of the technical department.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science or a related industry
  • Proven experience as a Development Chemist ideally working with products for the construction industry, such as liquid membranes, adhesives and roofing or flooring products, or in a related industry.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 policies.
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and provide insightful conclusions.
  • Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Innovative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
