SEN Teaching Assistant (BSL Level 2 or 3)

Reed Education is working in partnership with a high-performing secondary school in the Stanmore area to recruit an experienced and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) Level 2 or Level 3 certification.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide 1:1 support for a student with hearing impairment, helping them to fully access learning, develop confidence, and thrive within a mainstream secondary school environment.

The Role

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 classroom support for a student with a hearing impairment.
  • Use British Sign Language to facilitate communication between the student, teachers, and peers.
  • Support the student's academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals to implement support strategies.
  • Adapt learning resources where necessary to ensure full access to the curriculum.
  • Encourage independence, engagement, and participation in school life.

The Successful Candidate Will Have

  • BSL Level 3 qualification (preferred) or BSL Level 2 qualification.
  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Experience within an educational setting is desirable but not essential.
