Operations Assistant, Air Freight (Import Customer Service)

About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Operations Assistant to join our clients Air Freight Import Customer Service team. In this role, you will manage end-to-end import shipment operations across a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring timely cargo movement, billing accuracy, and service excellence from origin through to Singapore delivery.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end import shipments for key accounts (Credit, Non-Credit, COD, DDU) from origin to Singapore delivery
- Extract shipment pre-alerts and process shipment activities through operational systems, including updating shipment status and generating delivery instructions
- Coordinate with overseas stations, airlines, terminals, transport providers, and vendors to ensure smooth cargo clearance
- Respond to customer inquiries and resolve shipment-related issues, including cargo discrepancies, short-landed cargo, and damages
- Handle special cargo categories such as pharmaceutical cold chain, valuable cargo, and escorted shipments requiring enhanced monitoring
- Process customer permits, HS codes, and shipment documentation for regulatory submission
- Generate COD invoices and support billing, customer account setup, and operational reporting
- Provide backup coverage across accounts during team members' leave periods
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in freight forwarding, air freight operations, import/export operations, or logistics customer service
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred (relevant working experience may compensate)
- Strong customer service, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in MS Office; experience with logistics platforms preferred
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and handle pressure with strong attention to detail
