The opportunity

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Inclusion Teacher to join our inclusion team. This is an exciting opportunity for a specialist educator to make a meaningful impact by supporting students academically, socially, emotionally and physically, ensuring they are able to access the curriculum, participate fully in school life, and fulfil their individual potential.

You will work closely with personal tutors, specialist teachers, the wider Inclusion Team, families, and external professionals to design, deliver and evaluate high-quality inclusion support and interventions. The role involves supporting inclusive classroom practice across subjects, delivering targeted interventions, and developing and reviewing Individual Education Plans. You will manage referrals to the inclusion team and coordinate access arrangements for internal assessments, so that students are supported throughout their GCSE journey. You will ensure that each student's needs and strategies are understood and acted upon by every teacher who teaches them, support students through their transition into the Senior School, and help them develop the independence, confidence and self-advocacy required to thrive across the curriculum and make strong progress in their learning.

The role

Reporting to: Director of Inclusion

Student support

Identify, assess, and support students of determination and students with additional learning needs.

Develop, implement and review Individual Education Plans (IEPs), learning targets, and support strategies.

Provide in-class support, small group intervention, and/or targeted withdrawal support as appropriate within the Senior School timetable.

Ensure each student's needs, targets and strategies are understood and acted upon by every teacher who teaches them.

Work collaboratively with personal tutors, specialist teachers, families and external professionals to support students academically, socially, emotionally and physically.

Support students' transition into the Senior School and between year groups.

Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records in line with school and KHDA expectations.

Teaching & learning

Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to meet the learning needs of students across subject areas.

Use evidence-based interventions and inclusive teaching practices.

Support differentiation and inclusive practice across departments.

Work alongside specialist teachers to ensure students of determination are able to access the curriculum and participate fully in learning.

Develop alternative pathway provision and curriculum within the school for students who require it.

Develop students' independence, self-advocacy, organisation and study skills as they progress through the Senior School.

Assessment & planning

Conduct baseline assessments to place students on appropriate support pathways.

Manage referrals to the inclusion team and coordinate the response to each referral.

Coordinate access arrangements for internal assessments and examinations.

Establish and maintain the record of students' normal way of working, so that access arrangements can be evidenced and applied for as students progress towards their GCSEs.

Monitor progress and maintain comprehensive records of student development.

Prepare written reports and contribute to Individual Education Plans and support planning.

Professional engagement

Work collaboratively with teachers, learning support assistants, families and external professionals to support student progress.

Stay updated on current research and best practices in inclusive learning and teaching.

Participate in school-wide inclusion initiatives, CPD, and cross-departmental planning.

Safeguarding & compliance

Ensure all teaching practices reflect the school's safeguarding and child protection policies.

Maintain compliance with KHDA, MOE, and school-wide inclusion frameworks and reporting requirements.

The person

Qualifications and experience

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

SEN/Inclusion qualification at postgraduate level (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination, NPQ for SENCOs, or a Master's in SEN/Inclusion).

Minimum of 5 years' experience working with students with SEND (e.g. ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, SEMH) preferably within a British or international curriculum.

Experience of supporting students within a subject-based timetable, or a clear understanding of how inclusion support operates across multiple subject teachers.

Strong understanding of inclusive teaching strategies and interventions.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable

An access arrangements assessment qualification, such as CCET (Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing) or CPT3A (Certificate in Psychometric Testing, Assessment and Access Arrangements).

Experience of supporting students through their GCSEs, including the coordination of access arrangements.

Experience of teaching or supporting students at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
