We are working on behalf of a leading organisation within the science industry who are recruiting an Entry Level Laboratory Assistant for an immediate start. This role is a Fixed Term 5 month contract with a strong opportunity to go permanent - making it the perfect entry-level role for someone looking for a new career path. With no previous experience necessary, this role is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in science who wants to start Previous experience is not essential; however, you must have a genuine interest in science, be highly organised, and be able to work under pressure whilst maintaining accuracy and high standards. Full training will be provided. Salary: £24,960.00 - £26,256.00 per annum + 10% Shift Allowance (pro-Rata for FTC) Hours: 37.5 hours per week Shifts: Shifts 6-1, 1-8 rotation (Due to shifts Public Transport is not available to Witham - therefore you must live in Witham or you are a car driver/access to a vehicle) Purpose of the Job - Entry Level Laboratory Assistant To weigh out analytical samples for the laboratory; load and unload the laboratory dishwashers; wash laboratory glassware; transport materials and stores between Witham sites (by foot or using the company van); and carry out sample preparation under the guidance of the Chemist/Laboratory Supervisor. Duties Undertake consistent and accurate laboratory weighing techniques and manipulation skills. Ensure that all assigned work is carried out in conformance with instructions, established methods, and quality standards. Demonstrate a consistent understanding of material types and their relevant sample preparation requirements. If holding a current driving licence, act as a porter to other company units on the estate using the company van. Learn and apply the role and importance of UKAS ISO 17025 and ISO 9001:2000 within the laboratory. Ensure equipment is used efficiently and effectively and maintained where directed. Maintain good housekeeping and a clean, safe, and tidy laboratory environment. Carry out other duties as directed by the Laboratory Supervisor. Assist the Team Leader in weighing analytical samples to a high degree of accuracy and within preset times. Report to the Supervisor any deviations from, or failures of, methods, systems, and procedures. Necessary Skills and Experience - Entry Level Laboratory Assistant Computer literate. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate effectively with peers and local management. Ability to prepare and weigh samples with speed and accuracy, with excellent attention to detail. Ability to work in an organised and disciplined manner. Must hold a valid driving licence.
