Farm Assistant

Responsibilities:

Provides medical care to livestock, including cattle, swine, sheep, and poultry. Diagnosing and treating illnesses, performing surgeries, administering vaccinations, and developing herd health and biosecurity programs. Advise farmers on nutrition, breeding, and disease prevention to ensure animal welfare.

Requirements:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited institution Valid state veterinary license in good standing Experience in large animal or livestock practice preferred Strong knowledge of herd health management, disease prevention, and biosecurity protocols Ability to diagnose, treat, and perform surgical procedures on livestock Understanding of animal welfare regulations and food safety standards Proficiency in maintaining accurate medical and treatment records Excellent communication skills to work effectively with farmers and farm staff Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Willingness to travel between farm locations and respond to emergency calls Strong problem-solving skills and sound clinical judgment
