Young Adult & Life Groups Ministry
Pentecost Methodist Church is looking for a passionate and relational person to develop and strengthen our Young Adult & Life Groups Ministry.
This role is focused on helping young adults find a place of belonging, meaningful relationships and spiritual growth, while strengthening Life Groups as an important environment for community and faith formation.
Working alongside pastors, ministry leaders, Life Group leaders and volunteers, you will help shape a ministry that connects everyone at different stages of life and encourages them to participate actively in the life of the church.
Key Responsibilities
- Young Adult Ministry
- Develop and coordinate initiatives that engage young adults and build a strong sense of community.
- Build authentic relationships with young adults and understand their needs, interests and different stages of life.
- Create opportunities for fellowship, connection and meaningful participation in church life.
- Encourage young adults to discover and use their God-given gifts in serving God and the church.
- Identify and nurture emerging young adult leaders.
- Work with ministry leaders to develop relevant and sustainable programmes for young adults.
- Collaborate with other church ministries to help young adults become more connected to the wider church community.
- Life Groups Ministry
- Strengthen and support the development of healthy Life Groups within the entire faith community.
- Inspire everyone to participate in Life Groups and foster a culture of belonging and mutual care.
- Recruit, mentor and equip Life Group leaders.
- Organise leader gatherings, training and sharing sessions.
- Provide Life Group leaders with relevant resources and practical support.
- Develop a healthy pipeline of Life Group and ministry leaders.
- Work with pastoral staff when groups or individuals require additional pastoral support.
- Ministry Planning & Coordination
- Develop an annual plan and calendar for Young Adult and Life Groups Ministry.
- Coordinate ministry activities, events and programmes with staff and volunteers.
- Regularly gather feedback to evaluate and improve ministry initiatives.
- Monitor participation and engagement to understand the health and development of YA and LG ministry.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine Christian faith and a desire to serve God and His Church.
- Has a heart for young adults and community building.
- Has relevant experience in young adult ministry, Life Groups, discipleship, pastoral ministry, community work or volunteer leadership.
- Has experience leading, mentoring or equipping volunteers and/or ministry leaders.
- Is relational, approachable and able to build trust with people from different backgrounds and life stages.
- Has good communication, facilitation and organisational skills.
- Is able to work collaboratively with pastors, staff, ministry leaders and volunteers.
- Is proactive, responsible and able to follow through on ministry initiatives.
- Has an understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced by young adults today.
- Is willing to serve during evenings and weekends when ministry activities require.
A relevant qualification in Theology, Christian Ministry, Counselling, and/or Social Sciences would be an advantage.
The Person We Are Looking For
We are looking for more than someone who can organise programmes.
We are looking for someone who loves people, builds relationships and develops leaders.
You should be someone who can walk alongside young adults, listen to their stories, connect them into community and encourage them to take ownership of their faith and ministry journey.
You should also be able to work with Life Group leaders—not simply managing groups, but equipping leaders and helping create healthy communities where people can grow together.
