PEARL ENERGY RESOURCES PTE. LTD.Singaporemycareersfutureavaldatud 23.09.2026

Pearl Energy Resources Pte. Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated Market Analyst to support our fuel oil trading activities in Singapore and the wider Asian market.

The Market Analyst will play an important role in understanding the physical fuel oil market by monitoring global supply flows into Singapore and Asia. A key responsibility will be to track fuel oil tanker movements, cargo volumes, timing, origins, destinations, and grades, using a range of market data services, shipping intelligence, and other relevant information sources.

The successful candidate will translate this information into actionable market intelligence, providing traders with timely daily insights and helping the trading team identify changes in market dynamics, supply-demand balances, arbitrage flows, and potential trading opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze global fuel oil supply flows into Singapore and Asia, with particular focus on tanker movements, cargo volumes, ETA, origin, destination, cargo size, and fuel oil grade.
  • Track global fuel oil flows and major exporting regions, including the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, Russia/CIS, and Asia.
  • Use various market data, shipping intelligence, vessel-tracking, pricing, and analytical services to build a comprehensive picture of physical market flows.
  • Maintain and develop internal databases and tracking tools covering:
  • Fuel oil tanker movements and cargoes
  • Import/export volumes
  • Vessel ETA and discharge timing
  • Cargo origins and destinations
  • Fuel oil grades and specifications
  • Regional supply and demand developments
  • Provide traders with daily market intelligence, highlighting significant changes, emerging trends, and developments that may affect Singapore fuel oil pricing and physical balances.
  • Monitor and analyze arbitrage flows and their potential impact on Singapore supply.
  • Monitor refinery operations, production changes, outages, maintenance, and other developments that could affect fuel oil availability.
  • Develop an understanding of the relationship between physical flows, inventories, bunker demand, refining economics, freight, and paper market pricing.
  • Develop independent views on the direction and dynamics of the fuel oil market, supported by quantitative data and fundamental analysis.
  • Translate market observations into clear and concise trading implications and actionable intelligence for traders.
  • Contribute to discussions on the company's trading targets, market positioning, and trading strategy.
  • Continuously improve internal market-monitoring processes, analytical methodologies, and data utilization.

Daily Market Intelligence

The analyst is expected to move beyond simply collecting and reporting data and develop a clear understanding of what the data means for the market and for trading.

The analyst should approach information with a healthy degree of skepticism, constantly questioning assumptions, validating data from multiple sources, and challenging conventional views in order to get to the underlying truth of what is actually happening in the market. The objective is not simply to identify what the data says, but to understand why it is happening, what may be missing or misleading, and what it means for future market direction and trading opportunities.

Candidate Profile

  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in oil market analysis, commodity research, shipping intelligence, or ship/vessel tracking.
  • Experience in fuel oil, crude oil, refined products, tanker shipping, or physical commodity markets is preferred.
  • Experience using vessel-tracking or shipping intelligence platforms is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with market data and information services such as Kpler, S&P Global Core/Platts, Argus, or equivalent platforms is an advantage.
  • Strong Excel skills, including the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret large datasets.
  • Comfortable using Claude or other AI tools to support data analysis, information gathering, research, and workflow automation.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify patterns, anomalies, and changes in large amounts of market and shipping data.
  • Good understanding or strong interest in tanker shipping and physical oil flows.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present market information clearly, concisely, and with a commercial perspective.
  • Ability to work closely with traders in a fast-moving and information-driven market environment.
  • Commercial mindset and willingness to develop independent market views.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is curious, analytical, commercially minded, and genuinely interested in understanding physical commodity markets.

The ideal candidate will enjoy working with data and have the ability to connect information from different sources—such as vessel movements, refinery operations, freight, regional demand, arbitrage flows, inventories, and price movements—to develop a coherent view of the market.

This is not purely a reporting or research role. The Market Analyst will work closely with traders and is expected to progressively develop the ability to translate market intelligence into trading ideas and recommendations.
