NPI ENGINEER – NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
RESPONSIBILITIES ●Lead new product introduction end-to-end: machine selection, process flow, tooling, fixtures, CNC programming, and cycle time development. ●Plan and execute process trials and DOE (Design of Experiments) to define optimal machining parameters — speed, feed, depth of cut, coolant strategy — before committing to production settings. ●Monitor process capability at each stage: track Cpk and SPC charts for all critical dimensions; escalate and act immediately when trends go out of control. ●Draft and compile trial reports and test result summaries for every phase — first cut, process validation, and FA run — clearly documenting parameter settings, results, issues, and decisions. ●Follow up tightly on every open process issue: set clear deadlines, confirm closures, and do not move to the next phase until current-phase acceptance criteria are met. ●Optimize process parameters based on trial data — cycle time, tool life, surface finish, dimensional yield — before handover to production. ●Evaluate and qualify new processes, new tooling, or new machining strategies proposed for current or incoming models; provide data-backed recommendations. ●Prepare full APQP/PPAP documentation: process flow, PFMEA, control plan, work instructions, MSA, and Cpk studies. ●Run First Article (FA/FAI) and secure approval from customer and QA; interface with customer engineering on drawing and spec requirements. ●Hand over validated processes to production with complete documentation and operator/technician training.
Qualifications: ●Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering. ●3–6 years in NPI or process engineering in a CNC precision machining environment (lathe, auto lathe, or milling). ●Must have hands-on DOE experience — able to design, run, and interpret experiments to optimize machining processes, not just follow existing parameters. ●Strong SPC and Cpk knowledge — able to set up control charts, interpret capability data, and take corrective action independently. ●Experienced in drafting clear, structured trial and test result reports; able to communicate findings to engineering and management. ●Hands-on CNC programming (Fanuc / Mitsubishi / Sanyo Denki); able to read drawings and GD&T. ●APQP / PPAP / FA / FAI experience; PFMEA, control plan, IATF 16949 environment. ●Detail-oriented and disciplined — tracks every open item and does not let issues slip through to production. ●Good English communication; Japanese is a plus.
