The role
The successful candidate will teach mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 for suitably experienced candidates. You will be expected to inspire students of all abilities, deliver engaging and challenging lessons, and contribute positively to the ongoing development of the mathematics department.
Key responsibilities
Deliver high-quality mathematics lessons that engage, challenge, and inspire students
Plan, prepare, and assess learning in accordance with the English National Curriculum and school policies
Use a range of teaching and learning strategies to support student progress and attainment
Monitor, assess, and report on student achievement, providing timely and constructive feedback
Promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning skills
Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
Contribute to curriculum development and departmental improvement initiatives
Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Participate actively in the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities, events, and professional development programmes
Uphold the safeguarding and welfare of all students
Person specification
The successful candidate will possess:
Essential
A bachelor's degree in mathematics or a closely related subject
A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE)
Experience teaching mathematics within the British curriculum
Strong subject knowledge and effective classroom management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A commitment to raising achievement and maintaining high standards
The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Desirable
Teaching experience gained in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, or a British international school
Experience teaching GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, or equivalent qualifications
Experience working in a multicultural or international environment
Familiarity with the use of educational technology to enhance teaching and learning
Experience contributing to extracurricular activities and enrichment programmes
