Civil and Structural Supervisor

Objectives:

A civil-structural supervisor oversees and manages the civil-structural construction process, ensuring that projects are completed on time and to the required quality standards.

They coordinate and direct the subcontractors’ activities and are responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and project specifications.

They manage the interfaces of the civil domain.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage the civil and structural construction activities, including coordinating with subcontractors’ peers and suppliers.

Enforce safety regulations and building codes, and conduct regular inspections to identify potential hazards or violations.

Manage and resolve conflicts between parties involved in their discipline.

Maintain accurate records of progress and quality control measures.

Identify and address any issues or problems that arise during the construction process.

Oversee and report deviations on how subcontractors manage the allocation of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.

Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and permits.

Review permit to work requested by subcontractors, ensuring that all the hazards and controls/precautions are explained to and understood by the affected operators. Ensure safe working practices and civil/structural safety rules are followed by operators on site.

Interface with the client civil/structural counterpart and with the site manager as required, promptly identifying areas of concern that may affect progress, quality, cost, etc., recommending corrective actions as required.

Take part in daily meetings to report and forecast activities. Liaise with other construction supervisors.

Provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline.

Interface with engineering, ensuring that the latest revision of documentation is used on site.

Civil and structural erection activities schedule monitoring.

Assist with commissioning phase as required.

Manage as-built drawings from subcontractors.

Verify material presence on site, promptly identifying future potential issues.

Coordinate a team of authorized civil and structural persons for the civil and structural works execution.

Coordinate with site civil and structural QA/QC (OPF and supplier).

Inspect, approve, and assess the work done by subcontractors.

Construction and Commissioning Phases:

Safety rules, permit to work (PTW).

Vendors, engineering, and site team interface.

CCMS – completion supervision and commissioning assistance.

Prior Experience and Expertise Required:

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar field.

10+ years proven work experience as a civil and structural supervisor in oil and gas EPCC projects.

Strong leadership and managerial skills.

A good eye for detail.

Civil and structural project management.

Civil and structural design.

Civil and structural construction in the oil and gas sector.

Civil and structural procurement and costing.

Safety knowledge.

Must have a basic knowledge of other disciplines: piping, electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, etc.
