Head of Grains Desk
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and grow physical trading flows across approved origin and destination markets.
- Leverage existing supplier and customer networks to generate new trading opportunities.
- Independently originate and negotiate both purchase and sales transactions.
- Build sustainable relationships with suppliers, customers and key trading counterparties.
- Manage the complete trade lifecycle, including pricing, contracts, financing, shipment, documentation, collections and claims.
- Coordinate with treasury, trade finance, logistics, legal, insurance, quality, accounts and risk functions.
- Monitor commodity markets, trading routes and new business opportunities aligned with the company’s risk appetite.
- Take ownership of desk P&L, product-level profitability, trading margins, working-capital and execution costs.
- Manage counterparty, credit, inventory, foreign-exchange and price risks within approved limits.
- Maintain effective working-capital management and monitor receivables, inventory, exposures and potential losses.
- Maintain accurate pipeline, position, exposure and profitability reporting.
- Ensure compliance with KYC, sanctions, credit, legal and risk-management requirements.
- Develop the desk progressively and recommend additional resources based on established trading volumes and profitability.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of agricultural commodity trading experience.
