Assistant Baker
Responsibilities:
Assist the baker with the preparation and production of bread, cakes, pastries, and other baked products. Measure and weigh ingredients accurately according to recipes and production requirements. Assist with mixing, kneading, shaping, proofing, baking, cooling, and decorating products. Prepare baking trays, molds, ingredients, and equipment before production. Operate and monitor basic bakery equipment safely and correctly. Assist in maintaining consistent product quality, taste, texture, and appearance. Monitor baking times and temperatures to prevent under-baking or over-baking. Keep workstations, utensils, ovens, mixers, and other bakery equipment clean and properly organized. Assist with checking and storing raw materials and report low or damaged stock to the supervisor. Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures at all times. Assist with packaging, labeling, and arranging finished baked products for display or delivery. Minimize ingredient waste and maintain proper handling of bakery materials. Support the baker with daily production targets and other assigned bakery duties.
Requirements:
Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent. Proven years of experience working in a bakery or food production environment is preferred. Basic knowledge of baking techniques and bakery equipment. Ability to accurately measure and follow recipes and instructions. Good knowledge of food hygiene and sanitation practices. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods. Good teamwork, communication, and time-management skills. Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, or shifts when required. Culinary or baking training/certification is an added advantage.
