Accountabilities Lead the delivery of scalable, secure, maintainable, and high-performing Shopify solutions, including themes, custom applications, integrations, and API-driven experiences.

Remain hands-on with Shopify development across Liquid, Online Store 2.0, custom app development, Shopify APIs, integrations, and third-party services.

Establish and champion technical standards covering code quality, security, performance, documentation, maintainability, and delivery readiness.

Mentor and coach developers through pairing, code reviews, feedback, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance while encouraging team autonomy and reducing knowledge silos.

Guide technical direction, estimation, release planning, risk management, and delivery readiness in collaboration with Architects and Project Managers.

Lead the adoption of AI coding agents and emerging development technologies by establishing appropriate workflows, guardrails, and quality controls.

Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients, helping them make informed decisions about their Shopify platforms, integrations, and broader eCommerce ecosystems.

Contribute to eCommerce strategies and roadmaps using business objectives, data, research, competitive insights, and Shopify best practices.

Advise clients on platform capabilities, technical trade-offs, integrations, and technologies across the broader eCommerce ecosystem, including PIM, DAM, ERP, CDP, and martech solutions.

Lead or contribute to client workshops, discovery sessions, proposals, and pre-sales activities by providing technical and strategic expertise.

Connect technical recommendations and solutions to measurable business outcomes, including conversion, revenue, average order value, retention, and customer experience.

Translate business requirements into clear user stories and support backlog management when a dedicated Product Owner is unavailable or requires assistance.

Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with Product Owners and Project Managers to maintain alignment between business objectives and technical execution.

Help prioritize competing client needs, technical constraints, platform capabilities, and eCommerce opportunities to keep projects progressing effectively.

Requirements:

Have 7+ years of software development experience, including significant hands-on experience building and scaling Shopify or comparable eCommerce solutions.

Demonstrate deep expertise in Shopify, Liquid, Online Store 2.0, Shopify APIs including Admin API, Storefront API, and Shopify Functions, as well as custom app development and integrations.

Have Shopify Plus experience as a strong asset.

Demonstrate proven experience leading, mentoring, or supervising software developers while remaining capable of contributing technically without becoming the team's sole technical contributor.

Have a strong understanding of eCommerce strategy, data-driven decision-making, KPI development, conversion optimization, customer experience, and digital roadmaps.

Possess excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to advise both technical and business stakeholders and lead strategic client workshops.

Be comfortable with Product Owner practices including requirements gathering, user stories, backlog management, prioritization, and Agile delivery.

Have working knowledge of eCommerce ecosystem technologies such as PIM, DAM, ERP, CDP, search and merchandising, and review platforms.

Have fluent spoken and written English; French proficiency is an asset.

Have hands-on experience with AI coding agents and agentic development workflows, or demonstrate the ability and willingness to rapidly adopt emerging AI technologies.

Demonstrate strong analytical skills, sound judgment, autonomy, organization, and prioritization abilities.

Have experience working in an agency or client-services environment as a strong asset.

Have experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

Have experience with additional eCommerce platforms such as BigCommerce or Adobe Commerce, or headless CMS platforms such as Contentful, Sanity, or Storyblok, as an asset.
