Accountabilities: Design, develop, and modernize enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture, replacing legacy components with scalable and maintainable solutions.

Build secure, high-performance REST APIs and integrate them with existing systems, databases, and external services while ensuring data consistency and regulatory compliance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, government stakeholders, developers, analysts, and data engineers to define technical solutions and support modernization initiatives.

Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability while implementing best practices for architecture, testing, deployment, and documentation.

Develop comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, participate in code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and mentor junior developers.

Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives while leveraging AI-powered development tools to enhance productivity and software quality.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

9+ years of experience developing enterprise Java applications with strong expertise in modern software engineering practices.

Advanced proficiency with Java (version 21 or later), Spring Boot, Spring Data, REST API development, JPA/Hibernate, relational databases, Git/GitHub, and testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.

Experience designing and implementing microservices, API-first architectures, performance optimization, and secure software solutions.

Familiarity with tools such as Maven, Swagger/OpenAPI, API testing platforms, and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.

Strong analytical, debugging, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience working in Agile development environments and collaborating effectively within distributed remote teams.

U.S. citizenship is required, with the ability to obtain an EPA Public Trust Level 4 clearance.
