Welding Engineer

This is an opportunity for an engineer with 3–7 years of welding experience to deepen practical expertise in welding-process control, troubleshooting and knowledge transfer. You will work with experienced specialists, take increasing ownership of shop-floor welding quality and help build stable local production capability.

In this role, you will:

• Control GMAW processes, solid wire, shielding gas, essential variables and operating conditions in accordance with approved WPSs and quality requirements.
• Verify applicable shielding-gas conditions, base metal, filler metal and transfer mode against the approved procedure.
• Read 2D welding drawings and CATIA-generated drawings and interpret welding symbols, joints, sequences and inspection requirements.
• Explain welding standards, conditions, defect-prevention methods and repair procedures to shop-floor personnel and verify implementation.
• Assess welding defects, determine their type, extent and cause, and coordinate an approved removal, rewelding or repair approach.
• Support welding quality from welded subassemblies through upper and lower body fabrication, structure integration and final welding.
• Monitor distortion, dimensions, fit-up, shielding condition, wire and other key process variables.
• Lead root-cause analysis and recurrence-prevention activities for repeated welding defects.
• Coordinate technical issues with production, quality, design and downstream assembly teams.
• Learn from experienced visiting engineers and welders, standardize transferred knowledge and help develop independent local capability.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
• 3–7 years of experience in welding engineering, welding-process engineering or welding production.
• Practical understanding of GMAW using solid wire and shielding gas.
• Ability to read 2D welding drawings and CATIA-generated drawings and interpret welding symbols, joints and requirements.
• Ability to analyze welding defects and develop technical actions under approved WPSs and repair procedures.
• Understanding of distortion, dimensional control, fit-up and inspection considerations for welded structures.
• Ability to explain technical requirements to shop-floor personnel and verify sustained implementation.
• Proactive approach to shop-floor troubleshooting and cross-functional coordination.
• Working English communication skills for technical documents and collaboration with international specialists.
• Willingness to work on-site in Cairo and comply with applicable PPE, ventilation, gas-handling and fire-prevention requirements.

Experience in construction equipment, railway vehicles, heavy industry or large welded structures is preferred. IWE, IWS, CSWIP Welding Inspector, AWS CWI or a comparable welding qualification is an advantage, but candidates are not required to hold every listed certification.
