Marine Superintendent (Deck)

Job Description: Vetting & Inspections : Coordinate SIRE, CDI, HVPQ, Class, and Flag State inspections; track and close out deficiencies. Navigation & Safety : Oversee passage planning, risk assessments, weather routing, navigation audits, and bridge procedures. Cargo & Operations : Monitor cargo/ballast handling, tank cleaning, stowage plans, and ship-to-ship (STS) transfers. Regulatory Compliance : Enforce ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, STCW, and MLC standards. Crew & Training : Support deck crew interviews, competency management, onboarding, and safety training. Incident Management Job Requirement: Certificate of Competency (CoC) : Class 1 (Master Mariner) or Class 2 Deck Officer (unlimited/foreign-going preferred). Sea Experience : 3–5+ years sailing experience (often including command/chief mate rank or tanker/bunker background). Shore Experience : 1–5 years in a marine superintendent or fleet/operations supervisory role. Certifications : ISM/ISPS/ISO Lead Auditor or tank-specific safety endorsements advantageous. [1, 2]
