/ HVAC Technician Position Summary The Air Conditioning Technician is responsible forinstalling, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing residential,commercial, and industrial air conditioning, ventilation, and cooling systems.This role ensures optimal indoor air quality, thermal comfort, and systemenergy efficiency while strictly adhering to environmental and safetycompliance standards. Key Responsibilities Installation & Commissioning Install split-unit, multi-split, VRV/VRF, packaged, and central air conditioning systems according to engineering specifications and manufacturer guidelines. Lay out, bend, solder, and braze copper refrigerant piping and insulation. Run electrical wiring, install control boards, circuit breakers, and connect low-voltage control systems (thermostats, sensors, actuators). Perform system vacuuming, leak testing, pressure testing, and refrigerant charging. Test and commission newly installed units to verify correct operation, temperature differentials, and airflow distribution. Maintenance & Servicing Conduct routine preventive maintenance on AC units, including chemical washing, fan coil cleaning, and condenser coil flushing. Clean, inspect, and replace air filters, drain pans, fan blades, and drainage lines to prevent water leakage and blockages. Check and record operational parameters such as refrigerant operating pressures, motor current draw, and supply/return air temperatures. Diagnostics & Repair Perform detailed troubleshooting on malfunctioning systems using diagnostic tools (manifold gauges, multimeters, leak detectors, thermal cameras). Identify and repair electrical failures, compressor burnouts, fan motor defects, PCB malfunctions, and refrigerant leaks. Recover refrigerants safely using recovery units in compliance with environmental regulations. Replace defective components, including expansion valves, capacitors, contactors, thermostats, and compressors. Client Relations & Documentation Explain technical issues and recommended repairs clearly to residential clients or commercial facility managers. Prepare accurate service reports, job sheets, and parts inventory logs following each service call. Recommend energy-efficient upgrades, preventive maintenance contracts, or equipment replacements when appropriate. Requirements & Qualifications Education & Certifications: High school diploma, vocational certificate, or diploma in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Technology. Relevant trade certifications (e.g., EPA Section 608 Certification, Singapore BCA/Workplace Safety & Health certification, or local equivalents). Work Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in residential or commercial AC installation, servicing, and repair. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of refrigeration cycles, psychrometrics, and electrical schematics. Proficiency in handling refrigerants (R410A, R32, R134a, R22) and operating recovery/vacuum equipment. Experience with various AC brands (e.g., Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, Panasonic, Carrier, York, Trane). Skilled in copper pipe brazing, flaring, electrical troubleshooting, and control system setup.

Physical & General Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 25 kg / 55 lbs) and work at heights (ladders, scaffolding, elevated work platforms). Comfortable working in tight, outdoor, or hot environments (attics, roofs, plant rooms). Valid driver’s license (for field/service technicians).

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) First-Time Fix Rate: Resolving system issues on the initial service visit. Customer Satisfaction: High service ratings and minimal call-backs for recurring issues. Safety & Compliance: Zero safety incidents and proper handling/disposal of hazardous refrigerants.
