Elora Road Meats is a well-established, family-operated meat processing facility serving farmers and retail customers since 1976 in South Bruce Ontario.

We're looking for a motivated Apprentice Butcher/recent Grad to join our team and learn the craft of professional meat cutting. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are eager to develop hands-on skills, work in a fast-paced environment, and grow into a fully trained butcher.

As a butcher you will learn how to:

• *Meat Preparation:*
• Break down beef, pork, lamb, and seasonal wild game according to customer specific cuts.
• Perform all stages of meat cutting and processing; including slaughter activities and carcass handling.
• *Equipment Operation:*
• Maintain equipment and ensure sanitation standards are met.
• Learn safe use of knives, saws, mixers, slicers, and scales.
• *Customer Service:*
• Assist customers with cut requests and product information
• Answer phone inquiries/booking animals
• Support general shop operations.

This position will be full-time Monday-Friday. This may include longer days and weekends on occasion. The fall is typically busier with hunting season and more hours would be needed.

The ideal candidate has:

• Motivation and willingness to learn!
• Apprenticeship eligibility - Willing and able to register for provincial apprenticeship training (if candidate wishes to pursue)
• Knife-handling basics - Comfort using knives; formal training provided
• Physical capabilities - Ability to lift 40-60+lbs, stand for long periods, and work in cold environments (0-4C). Emotional resilience and comfort performing duties in a kill-floor environment
• Reliability - Consistent attendance and punctuality.

Preferred (Not Required)

• Food handler certification (will send for training if needed)
• Experience in meat, deli, or kitchen prep an asset

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour
