*Part-Time Baking Assistant ? Duchess Atelier*

Are you passionate about baking and love sharing your skills with others? Duchess Atelier is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Baking Assistant to join our team!

Atelier Assistants ensure each class flows smoothly and effortlessly by supporting the Instructor and Students from start to finish. From greeting students as they arrive to providing one on one support while following recipes, the Assistant is a key part of the Duchess experience that guests have come to love and appreciate. Instructors and Assistants should work in sync and be aware of each other's needs throughout the class. Atelier is a team effort to provide exceptional service to those looking to elevate their baking skills.

*About Duchess Atelier*

At Duchess Atelier, we provide home bakers with the skills and confidence to create high-quality baked goods in their own kitchens. Our classes offer a behind-the-scenes look at the techniques, ingredients, and attention to detail that define Duchess Bake Shop. Duchess Atelier instructors come from a variety of backgrounds. Whether professionally trained or self-taught, our instructors share a deep love for baking and a commitment to education.

*Responsibilities*

  • Greet students and provide direction on where to put coats, purses, give a quick overview of the room and where they can find things.
  • Set up classroom with equipment and ingredients prior to class start time
  • Assist students with process questions or demonstrate for them ? we want everyone to feel like they have our full attention.
  • Encourage and engage with students
  • Provide knowledge of tools, ingredients etc. in the retail store as students shop at the end of class.
  • Answer student questions and provide guidance throughout the class
  • Prepare large batches of doughs, fillings, and other components as needed
  • Set up and organize ingredients and equipment before class
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation
  • Assist with classroom clean-up after each session

*Requirements*

  • A strong passion for sharing your love of baking.
  • Able to speak to groups of up to 20 people.
  • Experience working in a professional baking or pastry kitchen is not required but is an asset
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with groups
  • Comfortable demonstrating and speaking in front of an audience
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A collaborative and positive attitude
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 44 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
  • Must be available evenings and weekends, daytime availability is an asset
