National Logistics Manager
Responsibilities:
Nationwide Logistics Management
Develop and manage logistics operations covering all states in Nigeria.
Establish effective delivery networks across the North, South, East and West.
Coordinate movement of products between warehouses, hubs and customers.
Identify suitable logistics partners and transport providers in different states.
Establish regional logistics hubs and distribution points where necessary.
Develop contingency plans for difficult-to-reach locations and delivery disruptions.
Last-Mile Delivery:
Oversee nationwide last-mile delivery operations.
Ensure orders are delivered within agreed delivery timelines.
Monitor delivery success rates, failed deliveries and customer complaints.
Develop strategies to reduce delivery delays and failed deliveries.
Coordinate dispatch riders and delivery companies.
Monitor proof of delivery and delivery confirmation.
3PL & Logistics Partner Management:
Identify, evaluate and negotiate with third-party logistics companies.
Manage relationships with courier companies and interstate transport operators.
Negotiate delivery rates and service-level agreements.
Monitor logistics partners against agreed KPIs.
Review partner performance and replace underperforming providers when necessary.
Warehouse & Inventory Movement:
Coordinate movement of inventory between warehouses and regional hubs.
Work closely with warehouse and inventory teams.
Ensure accurate documentation of goods leaving and arriving at facilities.
Minimize stock losses, damages and discrepancies during transportation.
Ensure proper handling and packaging of products before dispatch.
Route & Cost Optimization:
Develop efficient delivery routes across different locations.
Reduce transportation and delivery costs without compromising service quality.
Analyse delivery routes, transportation costs and delivery times.
Consolidate shipments where possible to reduce logistics expenses.
Monitor fuel, vehicle and transportation expenses.
Returns & Reverse Logistics:
Develop an efficient system for handling product returns.
Coordinate retrieval of returned products from customers.
Ensure returned products are properly documented and transferred to the appropriate warehouse.
Monitor reasons for returns and identify recurring logistics-related issues.
Reduce losses associated with failed deliveries and returns.
Team Management:
Recruit, train and supervise logistics personnel.
Manage dispatch coordinators, logistics officers, drivers, riders and regional logistics teams.
Set individual and team KPIs.
Conduct regular performance reviews.
Ensure compliance with company policies and operational procedures.
Customer Delivery Experience:
Work closely with Customer Service to resolve delivery complaints.
Investigate delayed, missing, damaged or incorrectly delivered orders.
Develop processes for keeping customers informed about delivery status.
Ensure customers receive their orders in good condition.
Data & Performance Management
Prepare regular logistics reports covering:
Number of orders dispatched
Orders delivered
Delivery success rate
Failed deliveries
Average delivery time
Cost per delivery
Returns
Damaged/lost packages
Logistics partner performance
Regional performance
Customer delivery complaints
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or HND in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Transport Management, Operations Management or a related field.
4–8 years of relevant logistics/supply chain experience, preferably within e-commerce, retail, FMCG or a high-volume distribution environment.
At least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory logistics role.
Strong experience managing nationwide or multi-state logistics operations.
Proven experience working with 3PL companies, courier companies, dispatch companies and transport operators.
Experience managing last-mile delivery operations.
Strong knowledge of the Nigerian logistics and transportation environment.
Experience managing logistics budgets and controlling delivery costs.
Strong experience with inventory movement and reverse logistics.
Ability to manage multiple logistics partners simultaneously.
Experience using logistics, inventory or ERP systems.
Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
Ability to analyse logistics data and prepare management reports.
Willingness to travel across Nigeria when required.
