Legal Manager
Responsibilities:
Reviewing, preparing and managing legal documentation relating to real estate activities, including property acquisition, disposal, leasing, tenancy and development transactions
Reviewing title and property documentation and identifying legal risks requiring further investigation or specialist advice
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and operational contracts with clients, contractors, consultants, vendors and other counterparties
Maintaining a central contract register and monitoring key contractual dates, obligations and renewals
Providing legal support on general corporate and commercial matters, including corporate governance and statutory documentation
Identifying legal and contractual risks affecting the company's operations, and maintaining a legal-risk register for significant ongoing matters
Serving as the primary point of coordination for external solicitors, briefing counsel and tracking the progress of matters referred externally
Providing timely legal advice to the Managing Director on corporate, commercial, property and contractual matters, and highlighting material risks in documents requiring approval
Requirements:
LLB and BL; must be called to the Nigerian Bar and in good professional standing
Approximately 5–8 years post-call experience
Demonstrable experience in real estate/property law and corporate/commercial legal practice
Experience reviewing and negotiating property, construction, consultancy, tenancy, lease and commercial agreements
In-house legal experience is strongly preferred
Experience coordinating external solicitors and managing multiple legal matters simultaneously
Company secretarial or corporate governance experience is an advantage
