The Mission
We are seeking a talented Senior Cloud Engineer to join our growing Managed Service Provider (MSP) team. The right candidate is someone who has deep expertise building a variety of cloud solutions and is passionate about working with our customers, partners, and employees to drive the business forward. Your mission will be to work alongside Caylent’s Architects and Delivery Managers to deliver AWS cloud solutions across our diverse and innovative customer base.
Your Assignment
Development
Evaluate libraries, tools, and services for suitability
Own the implementation of stories and other engineering of advanced cloud work for clients
Perform research and documentation for problems and potential solutions
Use various frameworks and methodologies to fully qualify problems, pain points, and potential jeopardies
Build on Cloud Native patterns, IoT back-ends, serverless architectures, and highly automated work patterns and delivery methods
Augment and design support systems and response procedures and coordinate hand-off to Cloud Operations (CloudOps) Support Engineers
Hands-on involvement in the development of projects. Enforces standards, procedures, and methodologies for the software development life cycle. Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail
Participate in cross-functional implementation teams to deliver solutions to clients
Share knowledge and skills with other team members and client teams
Write cool blog posts, do talks at community events, help us achieve additional certifications in the AWS Partner Community, help our clients solve all sorts of problems
Occasional travel may be required to meet stakeholders, kick off new projects, attend conferences, and attend company functions.

Observability and Monitoring
Design, implement, and build scalable architectures leveraging AWS services with an emphasis on reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
Build and maintain observability solutions using AWS native (e.g., CloudWatch, X-Ray, Config) and partner tools (e.g. Datadog, Dynatrace, OpenTelemetry) for APM, infrastructure monitoring, logging, and tracing.
Work with a 24x7 response team and operations leadership group to help establish the precise collection of metrics, data and logs needed to properly monitor an application or workload
Within this observability framework help establish corresponding runbooks and automation that can be deployed when certain metrics and conditions (monitoring) are met
Work with the CloudOps teams in effort to reduce noise and address root causes of issues surfaced
Partner with DevOps and security teams to ensure the necessary resilience, security, and cost-optimization features are embedded in solutions
General
Learn, coach, and share knowledge and skills with other team members
Prepare work for team members of varying levels of experience, defining stories and task type work
Contribute to internal IP and open source development
Participate in delivery efforts using Agile or other work methodologies
Build relationships with vendors and partners
Engage with clients including presentations, technical decisions, and education opportunities
Learn, research, and stay up to date on best practices and evolutionary capability in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud
Be a technical team advocate, ensuring clear direction and efficient execution
Perform code reviews, provide feedback, and pair when beneficial
Keep an eye out for opportunities to support our clients in even greater ways
Write cool blog posts, do talks at community events, help us achieve additional certifications in the AWS Partner Community, help our clients solve all sorts of problems
Occasional travel may be required to meet stakeholders, kick off new projects, attend conferences, and attend company functions.

Your Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 2 years of general IT experience (programming, hardware, software, etc); or 4 years of general IT experience (programming, hardware, software, etc)
3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services
1+ year code-defined infrastructure experience
1+ Continuous Integration and Deliver (CI/CD) experience
3+ years of programming experience utilizing Python, Node.js, Typescript, GoLang, Java, C , or other similar languages
Have worked with Agile Project Management or other project management work methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
Have an AWS Cloud Architect Associate, Sysops Associate, Developers Associate, DevOps Professional, and/or Solutions Architect Professional Certification
Have an AWS Specialty Certification
Intermediate experience building scalable, automated infrastructure
Intermediate experience with AWS Lambda and “Serverless” systems
Intermediate experience in large-scale enterprise IT environments
Intermediate experience working in a consultative, client-facing consulting role
Intermediate experience with Cloud Native patterns with services like AWS Lambda
Able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills
