HVDC Electrical Supervisor
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HVDC Electrical Supervisor to oversee the assembly, installation, and mechanical completion of critical equipment for a major HVDC Converter Station Project . The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of erection activities in accordance with project specifications, OEM requirements, and site HSE standards.
This role is ideal for professionals with experience in high-voltage transmission projects, substations, converter stations, or large-scale power infrastructure developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise onsite installation and assembly of HVDC converter station equipment, including converter transformers, valve hall equipment, smoothing reactors, filter banks, GIS/AIS components, and busbar systems.
- Lead and coordinate heavy lifting, rigging, and positioning activities for large electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with approved lifting plans and site procedures.
- Ensure all installation activities comply with OEM installation manuals, project technical specifications, quality requirements, and construction standards.
- Monitor daily construction progress, material deliveries, workforce productivity, and installation schedules to achieve project milestones.
- Coordinate with engineering, quality, logistics, commissioning, and subcontractor teams to resolve technical and construction interface issues.
- Review construction drawings, assembly schematics, equipment layouts, and installation procedures to support field execution.
- Verify alignment, leveling, torque tightening, and assembly quality during equipment installation.
- Maintain installation records, as-built documentation, inspection reports, punch lists, torque logs, and non-conformance reports.
- Supervise subcontractors and site personnel, ensuring work is executed safely and efficiently.
- Identify construction risks, site constraints, and potential schedule impacts, and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure compliance with project HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, lifting regulations, working-at-height requirements, and environmental standards.
- Support pre-commissioning and mechanical completion activities prior to handover to commissioning teams.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the installation and erection of high-voltage electrical equipment, substations, power transmission, or industrial infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience with HVDC converter stations, HV substations, GIS, AIS, power transformers, reactors, or similar electrical infrastructure is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of heavy lifting operations, rigging practices, and equipment installation procedures.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical layouts, assembly schematics, and technical specifications.
- Experience supervising subcontractors, construction crews, and site installation activities.
- Familiarity with QA/QC requirements, mechanical completion processes, and construction documentation.
- Relevant lifting, rigging, high-voltage installation, or electrical trade certifications will be advantageous.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work at construction sites and in outdoor project environments.
